I believe music is for everyone and success is measured not by perfection but by progress. My philosophy centers on creating a safe, supportive space where students can build confidence, develop their skills, and find joy in making music.
About Me
Hi, I’m Mindi! I’m a Tucson-based flutist, piccoloist, and a budding woodwind doubler. You’ll find me playing with the Sierra Vista Symphony, Tucson Pops Orchestra, and Tucson Repertory Orchestra, or performing chamber music with the Tucson Duo Project and Crowded Quartet. As well as several other ensembles.
There is a specific magic in the ensemble—the opportunity to work as a team and create a moment that is fleeting, unique, and memorable. I find deep joy in the feeling of connection and creativity, especially in a moment when skills, handwork, and synergy transcend the individual musician and becomes something magical. I have had conversations with many musicians, and many name the same type of feeling as the “why” they work so hard.
I believe the best performances happen when the audience is “in on the secret,” which is why I love sharing the stories and insights behind the music. My goal is for every listener to leave feeling involved, inspired, and connected. In a live performance, everyone is part of the music that is created!
I also love the energy of the theater pit—I’ve played for shows like Annie, The Sound of Music, Kiss me Kate, Into the Woods, Wizard of Oz, A Little Night Music, My Fair Lady, Miracle on 34th Street, and (soon) Come from Away. I have performed in the pit on flute, piccolo, recorder, clarinet and I am working on adding Irish flute and whistles (21 different flutes in total) for an upcoming musical, “Come from Away!”
Flute Lessons
In my studio, I teach with a “progress over perfection” philosophy. I believe learning music should be fun first. One of my favorite parts of teaching is when a student finds their own “aha!” moment.
